AHA 20 % Anti-Ageing Serum review

With a wide variety of products available to tackle the signs of ageing, it can often be overwhelming when trying to determine which ones are worth your money and your time.  It is fair to say that many of these products are as overpriced as they are ineffective.  Some make exaggerated – and often misleading – claims that quickly evaporate into nothing once you’ve brought the product and taken it home.  And yet most experts agree that anti-ageing skin care is an essential part of our well being.

The most effective anti-ageing products address the tell-tale signs of ageing that are already present, including:

  • Loss of skin firmness
  • Reduced skin elasticity
  • Increased skin dryness
  • Pigmentation disorders such as age spots and uneven pigmentation
  • Loss of radiance and an increase in dullness
  • Formation of fine lines and wrinkles

According to scientists, most of these symptoms are caused by the gradual breakdown of cellular and extracellular components.  In some cases there can be a reduction in the rate of key metabolic processes over time.  Therefore, there is a need to intervene in these processes to stimulate what is good, such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production in the dermal layer.

Apart from the physical benefits, treating the signs of ageing can also improve your confidence while also having a positive domino effect on your health. The simple truth is that when you feel better about how you look, your self-esteem gets a boost, which tends to make you more socially active.

With these thoughts in mind we were looking forward to testing the latest and most talked about anti-ageing product on the market, AHA Anti-Ageing Serum, or to give it its official name AHA 20 % Anti-Ageing Serum.  For those of you who may wonder, the AHA in its name stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) –  an acid which is derived from natural sources like apples and citrus and is known to be a  powerful antioxidant that works miracles for your skin.

Developed as part of the D’Lumiere Esthetique range, AHA Anti-Ageing Serum is considered by many to be nothing short of a revolutionary treatment. Designed by a Dermatologist/ Cosmetic Surgeon – Dr Daniel Lanzer who has over with 30 years experience,  all D’Lumiere Esthetique contain  a vital plant (candle tree) derived DNA repair enzyme which, according to the science,  works by fighting the adversities of DNA damage that ultimately leads to ageing signs on the skin.

Intrigued, we decided to put the ‘revolutionary’ serum through its paces.

During a two week testing period we were astonished at the results.

Light to the touch and gently scented, AHA Anti-Ageing Serum comes in a conveniently sized 100ml bottle which can be carried around for use in the home or for when staying in hotels.  Applying the serum was as easy as pressing down on the bottle’s pump and then massaging the serum into the face, chest and neck.  I was surprised to find that the serum felt incredibly smooth on my fingertips and skin and was easily absorbed during an application.  This is attributed to the fact that all of the D’Lumiere Esthetique range contains liposomes for increased absorption.  Excellent.

Over the course of two weeks AHA Anti-Ageing Serum did a marvellous job of exfoliating dead skin, flushing away dead cells while also revitalising my complexion.  After just a week into the testing period I noticed that my skin felt noticeably toned and much smoother than it’s ever been.  The fact that AHA Anti-Ageing Serum has 20 percent Alpha Hydroxy Acid (double the strength found in most AHA products)  means that the serum works harder at promoting collagen and blood flow.  The result: brightening my complexion and also correcting discoloration from scars and age spots  (not a problem I suffer from yet).

While the term ‘revolutionary treatment’ may be a great headline grabber, the simple truth is that AHA Anti-Aging Serum is a marvellous product that delivers on all its promises. It just works.   AHA Anti-Aging Serum won’t prevent you from getting older, but it certainly does a great job at reducing the signs of ageing.

Other ingredients in AHA Anti-Ageing Serum include:

Water, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium PCA, Allantoin, Panthenol, Cassia Alata leaf Extract.

As a side note D’Lumiere Esthetique AHA Anti Ageing Serum is available in two varieties.  The first uses Alpha Hydroxy Acid’s natural benefits to help fight the effects of ageing, while the second variety – a water based solution – is aimed at helping treat oily skin.  Highly recommended.
